HARBOR HOUSE DROP-IN CENTER Harbor
House Drop-In Center is a non-residential resource for adults who suffer from severe and persistent mental illnesses, who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness, who may have problems with alcohol and/or substance
abuse, and who may be involved with forensic mental health services. The primary goal of Harbor House is to identify and engage customers through peer-operated drop-in services. Short-term services support
and assist customers to choose, get and keep permanent solutions to significant personal problems, like homelessness, substance abuse, etc. Harbor House helps its customers: 1) to get and keep important resources
needed for successful community living; 2) to get and keep permanent housing; 3) to get and keep needed residential, health, mental health and social services; and, 4) to avoid necessary hospitalizations and
incarcerations. Harbor House is a safe and inviting place that offers a range of flexible, user-friendly services. Threshold services begin with efforts to connect with the customer. Harbor House offers problem
solving support and assistance as the customer requests these. The Drop-In Center's service menu includes: basic needs interventions (refreshments, bathing facilities, laundry facilities, and clothing exchange),
advocacy, referral and linkage, social support, and information services. In addition to Harbor House staff, representatives from various essential services - especially case management services, homelessness services
and health services - are available at the Drop-In Center on a regular basis. |
